Parents, attending school every day is important for all students. Students with consistent daily attendance earn higher grades, are more involved with school activities, tend to have fewer discipline problems, and are better prepared for the future and job opportunities. When a student misses class, the whole class is impacted. In fact, the entire school suffers because each day that a student misses, the school loses approximately $29.78 in funding per absence. Last year, the schools earned an additional $840,000 because there were fewer student absences. That is almost one million dollars because students did not stay home but came to school one additional day. So please, help your student, help your school. Unless your child is ill, send him or her to school every day. And remember, Attendance – It Counts!

Did you know students can receive dental care right here at school? The program is FREE if your child is covered by Medicaid or similar programs and there are some no-cost resources available for the uninsured as well. Your child will receive a consent form that explains the programs. The dentist will visit the school from time to time and provide exams, cleanings, x-rays, fluoride, sealants and even fillings!! Also, our students will be taught how to care for their teeth and the dangers of tobacco products. If you did not receive a consent form, please call the dental program at (800) 409-2563.
